Deep Skin Peel

Deep Peels (Beautyderm) to Make Your Skin Look Much Younger

A deep peel is used to rejuvenate your skin, decrease deep lines and deep scars, and to reverse serious sun damage and ageing. A deep peel not only liquefies the dead cells which are sitting on top of the skin but also stimulates the regeneration of skin cells, collagen and elastin fibres. These act like rope bundles, and cause the contraction and therefore a “lifting effect”, resulting in the appearance of smooth, fresh, even coloured and unwrinkled skin.

You can take a deep skin peel in Cosmetic Medical Centre as a treatment to improve the appearance of ageing, sun-damaged skin, getting rid of wrinkles and heavy pigmentation. As your skin improved, not only a better appearance, you may also gain your confidence.

This treatment will help you remove dead skin and dirt effectively, enable your skin to grow a better and healthier layer. And as a result, you will get a clear and glowing skin with a refreshed look. Other benefits that you can get by taking this treatment are it can protect you against skin cancer, clear out sun spots on your face, get rid of sagging eyelids, broken capillaries, acne scarring, open pores and precancerous lesions.

The process will take around 2 hours and will be done by our professional doctors. As it's a non-invasive procedure, there will be no injection or surgery needed. Our practitioners will apply a specially formulated liquid to the skin with a special technique. This will liquefy and remove the dead layers. After it's done, it will be covered with cream and the patient spends an hour in the recovery room. Then, the patient returns the next day, so the doctor can assess the reaction of the skin and to apply an additional cream.

Frequently asked questions

What is the deep skin peel?

A deep peel is used to rejuvenate your skin, decrease deep lines and deep scars, and to reverse serious sun damage and aging.

How effective is the deep peel?

Deep peels are used to radically improve the appearance of aging, sun damaged skin as well as getting rid of wrinkles and heavy pigmentation – typically only one peel is necessary. The peeling is very effective. It not only helps your appearance, it also does wonders for your self-esteem.

Are there other benefits to a deep peel?

Yes, in the majority of cases a deep peel will also protect you against skin cancer and sun spots on your face, and get rid of sagging eyelids, broken capillaries, acne scarring, open pores and precancerous lesions.

How is the procedure performed?

The deep peeling takes approximately 2 hours and is performed in our operating theatre. A specially formulated liquid is applied to the skin with a special technique, which liquefies and removes all the layers of the skin. The face is then covered with cream and the patient spends an hour in our recovery room. The next day the patient returns to see the doctor to assess the reaction of the skin and to apply additional cream.

Does it hurt (during/after)?

Deep peels are done under sedation and local analgesia in our operation theatre. This means that you will have twilight sedation, so there will be minimal discomfort during and after the procedure.

What will I look like straight after having a deep peel?

A deep peel will cause oozing and swelling of your face for about 4-7 days and you will experience redness of the skin for the next few weeks. During the redness phase you will look like you have been in the sun and you will be able to use make-up or powder to conceal it, however you will need to be off work for around two weeks.

Why is the recovery so long?

In order to properly improve the quality of the skin as well as remove deep wrinkles, we have to apply the peel deep enough into the skin. When the deeper layers of the skin are peeled you need to allow time for recovery.

What are deep skin peels used for?

Deep peels are mainly used to dramatically regenerate your skin, turning back your biological clock by around 10 years.

What skin products do I use after I have my peel?

You will need to use a variety of creams as a part of your follow-up program in order to maintain your skin at the optimal level. These products are available at the clinic and Dr Roberts will advise you which is best at each specific stage of your recovery.

Can I go back out in the sun?

Yes, but you need to remember that sun exposure is the main cause of skin ageing. Be very consistent with the use of sunscreen and wearing a hat. Sunbaking is not on.

What is the difference between peels?

Skin peels can be very superficial or very deep depending not only on the peeling agent, but also on the depth of penetration inside of the skin.

Are there any complications?

With any cosmetic procedure or operation there is a risk of complications, however the risk is very uncommon and less than 2-3%. These details will be discussed with the doctor at your consultation.

Do I need any preparation before the deep peeling?

Yes, you need to apply special creams for about 1 month to prepare your skin for peeling.

How much does it cost?

A deep peel is performed in the operation theatre and the total cost is between $3000 to $4000.

Why is this procedure better than other methods?

The deep peel is significantly different to other chemical peels. If you have a light peel with AHA you will need 10 to 20 sessions to achieve some results, but they don’t alter wrinkles to any significant degree. A medium peel with TCA may improve textural irregularities and very superficial wrinkling, but will never have an effect on clinically visible wrinkling or scarring.

What is the longevity of the results?

Multiple histological studies have shown the deposition of new layers of collagen in the skin and the improvement remains constant for years, even decades. There is especially good improvement in deep wrinkles and sun damage.
