Anti-Wrinkle Injections

As we age, we develop lines and wrinkles on our faces due to gravity, muscular action, and sun damage. The way your skin looks is directly related to the way your skin is stretched and squeezed by the muscles underneath.

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-Wrinkle Injections refer to Muscle Relaxing Toxins being placed into the muscles surrounding lines and wrinkles. This is a semi-permanent treatment which temporarily relaxes the muscles.

How do they work?

The toxins relax the muscles which have over contracted and caused deep lines. Selective weakening of parts of muscles will smooth wrinkling such as crows' feet, and frown lines. As the muscles relax the lines are less visible.

Why use Anti-Wrinkle Injections instead of Dermal Fillers or Laser Re-surfacing?

Each of the above treatments has their own, specific advantages. Their suitability depends on the depth of the lines and how the lines are formed. Anti-Wrinkle injections can be combined with dermal filling agents. The Doctor will suggest the best treatment for you.

How effective are they?

All patients get results. Most people can expect a 85-95% improvement in the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

[top]

How long do they last?

The injection remains effective from 3 to 7 months, depending on the patient.

What are the possible complications?

Only 1% of patients have minor complications which can include a temporary weakness of the muscles in the area of the injection. The Doctor will inform you of all possibilities at your consultation.

How much do they cost?

The cost is anywhere between $350 and $600 depending on the quantity of Anti-Wrinkle injections you require.

Is this covered by private insurance or Medicare?

As Anti-Wrinkle Injections are a cosmetic procedure, they are not rebateable through Medicare nor a private health fund.
