Deep Exoderm Peel

The Deep Exoderm Peel (chemical peel) is a revolutionary new technique that not only helps clear the skin of scarring, pigmentation, wrinkles and sun damage, but can also tighten the skin like a face lift. The Exoderm method removes the old skin with its scars, wrinkles and skin blemishes, and exposes new skin. The skin will therefore have a tighter, smoother appearance and the face will look 5 - 10 years younger.

Exoderm peel is a specially formulated preparation for use on most types of skin. The peel is a phenol based formulation mixed together with many other ingredients to achieve a balance of the best, deep penetration through the skin, and an excellent level of safety for the patient.

How long will I need off work?

At least ten to fourteen days to give your skin quality time to heal. You should go home straight after the procedure. You will need to return to the Cosmetic Medical Centre 24 hours later and then stay home for seven days.

Does it hurt?

The procedure requires some form of anaesthesia, either oral or intravenous, depending on the extent of the procedure. Post operatively, some patients report discomfort, only on the first day, mainly from the sensation of tightening skin.

How does it work?

Phenol based Exoderm peeling causes precise coagulation and denaturation of the old skin. The process encourages healthy skin to develop and renew itself. It also encourages the production of natural collagen in the dermis (deep skin layer).

How many treatments will it take?

You will get a marked improvement from the procedure after only one treatment. Some patients will need a 'touch-up' treatment (months or years later) particularly those with very deep lines around the lips.

Who is performing the Exoderm peel?

Dr Andrew Roberts has been practising dermatology and performing laser and cosmetic procedures for over 25 years. He has great experience in this area. Each patient is under the personal care of Dr Roberts after the procedure.

What happens after the procedure?

For the first 24 hours the patient has a special dressing mask on the face, and then an additional softer dressing mask for the six seven days. At this time the patient needs to stay home. On the 8th day the mask is removed and the new skin will remain pink for some time.

What are the possible complications?

Redness can fade over a few weeks or months but it does go away and you can apply make up during this period if you work in the public eye. Dark pigmentation and scarring can occur, but they are extremely rare.

Why should I have a Deep Exoderm Peel instead of Laser Resurfacing, a full Face Lift, a Dermal Filler, or a Fat Transplant?

Dermal Fillers are excellent for treating skin lines and acne scars but they are not a permanent solution, nor do they give the firming that an Exoderm peel will give to the whole face. Fat transplants are most effective for specific deep lines and depressions, but not for improving the texture of the skin. Laser resurfacing can achieve similar results, but is much more expensive. A full face lift is an operation, and it will leave a tiny scar around the ears whilst tightening and lifting the skin of the lower face.

Where is it done?

You come to this centre for your treatment. The Cosmetic Medical Centre is one of the few fully licensed Day Surgery Centres in Sydney.

How much does it cost?

This depends on what areas you need treated. The amount of time taken to treat you will determine the overall cost.

The following costs all include: theatre fee, day accommodation fees, anaesthetic services, surgeon's fees and all post operative check up visits. There are no hidden costs. The total cost is generally between $2500 - $4000.
