What is Gortex?

Gortex is the revolutionary new method of lip augmentation, or lip re-shaping. Gortex is a permanent solution for thin lips and can have you feeling good about your 'pout' in no time. It is a synthetic polymer which is non allergenic and non carcinogenic and can be cut into any shape to give you the perfect lips.

How is it done?

The procedure is carried out under a local anaesthetic in the operating theatre with the option of intravenous sedation. The Gortex is threaded through the lips with an invisible stitch at the corners of the mouth.

How long does it last?

It is permanent, however the procedure is very quickly and easily reversed.

Why use Gortex in place of Collagen or Fat Transplantation?

It depends on the length of time you want fuller lips. Collagen lasts 9 to 12 months, it cannot be reversed and needs to be re-done. Fat Transplantation lasts 1 to 1.5 years before you will also need 'top ups'. Gortex is permanent and can be reversed. The Doctor will provide the best solution for you.

How much does it cost?

Generally the cost will vary from $1,000 to $2,000 depending on whether you require top and bottom lip, or sedation for the procedure. The procedure is done in theatre (this is included in the cost) - the sterile environment is to keep the chance of infection to a minimum.

What does it feel like?

Gortex is very similar to your lip texture, it won't interfere with smiling, talking, or most importantly kissing!

Is it rebatable through Medicare or my health fund?

As gortex is a cosmetic procedure, unfortunately it is not rebateable through Medicare nor private health funds.

Will there be swelling or bruising?

There will be a small degree of swelling for the first few days. This will go down very quickly. Bruising is very uncommon.

Does it hurt?

No, it is done under a local anaesthetic, which makes the procedure as comfortable as possible for you.
